Frequently Asked Questions
Common questions, troubleshooting tips, and walkthroughs for DateFold.
What does DateFold do?
DateFold converts date prefixes on files between dashed (yyyy-mm-dd) and compact (yyyymmdd) formats. Drop a file or folder on it, preview the list, then rename in one click.
Does DateFold rename files before I confirm?
No. You see every proposed rename first. Cancel and nothing on disk changes.
Can I undo after I rename?
Canceling the preview has no side effects. After you confirm, DateFold has already renamed the files on disk, so review the list carefully. Use Time Machine or your own backup if you need to roll a committed rename back.
Does DateFold upload my files or use iCloud?
No. Renames run locally on your Mac. There is no account, no iCloud sync, and no analytics.
What folders can DateFold see?
Only the file or folder you drop on it. DateFold does not browse the rest of your Mac unless you give it that location.
